The working principle of hydraulic systems revolves around the precise control of high-pressure hydraulic fluid to achieve specific tasks by manipulating the direction of flow and regulating the flow rate. High-pressure hydraulic fluid, typically oil, is stored within a reservoir. A hydraulic pump pressurises this fluid, creating a substantial force. The pressurised fluid is then directed through a network of pipes and hoses to various hydraulic components, such as cylinders or motors, where directional control valves expertly manage the direction of flow.

These valves enable the hydraulic fluid to stop, allow flow, or change direction, determining the desired action. Simultaneously, flow control valves adjust the flow rate, controlling the speed at which hydraulic actuators move. This precise control of high-pressure fluid, in terms of direction and flow rate, empowers hydraulic systems to perform a wide range of tasks efficiently, from lifting heavy loads to powering machinery precisely and reliably.
